Tommie junior butterfly ace Mariann Kukielka on Tuesday was chosen MIAC Athlete of the Week in swimming and diving.
Kukielka had a hand in three firsts and set a pool record to help St. Thomas top Carleton in a Nov. 8 dual meet in Northfield. Her time of 58.38 in the 100-fly broke the facility record and ranks as the seventh-fastest time in Division III thus far in 2013-14.
Her winning time in the 200 was 2:17.74, and she swam a 26.77 split to help the Tommies take first in the 200-yard medley relay (1:52.70).
St. Thomas won 10 of 16 events to defeat the Knights and claim the Margate Memorial Cream Cheese traveling trophy.
Kukielka, an honorable mention All-America last March, is a two-time MIAC champion in the butterfly and has contributed to three conference champion relays.
St. Thomas is home Friday for the Andregg Invite and competes Saturday in Macalester's Ahlman Invite.
